This 16 metre span steel bridge was designed, fabricated and installed by Landmarc.
Just two weeks after Landmarc installed the bridge, flooding caused water levels to rise to dangerous levels - the local landowner assumed the bridge had been washed away. There was no sign of the bridge until flood waters abated three days later. The bridge was still standing. At a subsequent site visit it was estimated that the flood water at its highest level had reached two metres above the handrail of the bridge. The bridge also coped successfully with a considerable amount of debris i.e. trees being pushed against it. There was no structural damage to the bridge.
This is a prime example of how Landmarc apply the principles of innovative design, skilled methods of fabrication and the use of high quality materials to produce a perfect solution to projects of this nature.
Landmarc also design, fabricate and install timber bridges to the highest specifications.
Board walk, dipping platform, disabled fishing platform and additional fishing pegs – designed, constructed and installed by Landmarc. All elements were constructed using a combination of locally sourced pressure treated timber and fabricated steel frame.
The entire structure was constructed on site as no heavy machinery was permitted on the nature reserve where this project took place. This project required flexibility and imagination to complete on time and to the client’s satisfaction. Landmarc were able to deliver.
The project specification required the removal of an existing failed concrete structure. Landmarc were able to use one of their fleet of excavators to carry out this phase of the project. The second phase involved the design and fabrication of a stairway constructed as a steel frame with timber treads suspended between concrete landings.
Landmarc will supply bespoke design and installation packages on request. Unique requirements in relation to surroundings and exposure to the elements are always taken into consideration.
Stock Control – Cattle/Deer Grids

Public Rights of Way/Bridleways
We have worked closely with numerous local authority teams, private landowners and national organisations in constructing public rights of way of various specifications. These projects include stone roads and tarmac roads.
Having the necessary machinery, equipment and skilled workforce in place ensures Landmarc is capable of completing even the most challenging of projects.
The contract at Cardinham Woods for the Forestry Commission was to improve the existing car park at the visitor centre. Cardinham Woods in the heart of Cornwall attracts large numbers of visitors. The programme of works was limited under tight time constraints.
Elements of the project included demolition of an existing masonry/concrete septic tank, excavation and filling of a drainage lagoon, re-grading of existing stone surfaces, construction of new access roads and parking spaces, laying of bituminous macadam surfaces, construction of knee rail fencing and associated landscaping works.
Landmarc also have experience in constructing stone car parks and have carried out numerous projects for organisations such as the National Trust.
This project involved the design and build of 2km of blue trail and 1.3km of green trail. Work was completed at this site despite atrocious weather conditions through the duration of the contract. Landmarc successfully managed to continue construction and address drainage issues to complete the contract on time and within budget. Constructing the trail in these conditions ensures that the trail is fully sustainable for the future.
Feedback from clients (at South West Lakes Trust, the Forestry Commission and South West One representatives) has been outstanding.
