In 2012 this leat caused problems with flooding in the village centre. Landmarc were able to grade the banks using our machinery, we then installed bed checks with the use of steel piles, in order to prevent the rock used to create the stream bed from being washed downstream. The rock placed in the stream bed was then compacted. Two weeks following completion, erosion matting installed and top-soiled areas were seeded. Feedback from our National Trust colleagues is good, the flood protection is proving successful despite recent extreme weather.
During the summer floods of 2007, Landmarc were heavily involved in the design and construction of flood defences for a number of private properties. Flood protection solutions such as steel sheet piled walls and pumping chambers were designed & constructed by our in house team and installed on site. Landmarc projects also included works such as modification to utility services i.e foul drainage, storm drainage etc.
Since 2007 the country has been subjected to further flooding and extreme weather conditions. The quality and durability of Landmarc works has stood the test of time – continuing to protect the properties in question. Please see the ‘Testimonials’ page for client comments on our work in this area.
