Dartington Hall Estate required a wetland area to be created on an existing flood plain. This was done with the aim to encourage wildlife and alleviate flooding by drawing water from the adjacent watercourse. One of the main challenges was the distance the removed material had to be transported over the flood plain. This was overcome with the use of low ground pressure machinery and use of brash mats in certain areas. Since completion, Dartington Estate have been in contact to let us know how happy they are with the works and noted the increase in wildlife to the new wetland.
