Why Natural Pools Are Perfect For Wildlife

Natural pools are the perfect way to create a safe haven for wildlife in your own garden. Wildlife such as herons, ducks, and geese flock to natural garden pools. This is not only true for wildlife but is also true for a variety of insects. These insects are drawn to your garden when building natural ponds. In turn, they provide excellent pollination that will improve your garden landscape.

Wildlife love to make use of natural ponds and water features. They can use them as a simple drinking source or a thriving habitat for a variety of species. Each habitat is complete with its own ecosystem. These thriving habitats are made possible due to the wide array of aquatic plants you can choose from when choosing your natural pool design.

Once you decide to make your landscape more inviting and sustainable, you’ll never regret installing a natural garden pool. By adding this type of ecosystem to your garden landscape, you’re providing a home for all sorts of animals that need one most. And in return, you’ll get to enjoy the sights and sounds of a thriving ecosystem right at your doorstep. After all, what could be better than drinking your morning coffee while surrounded by the beauty of nature?

You may think that natural pools are only best for swimming. But even if you don’t want to swim in your natural pool, you can still benefit from the beauty it brings to your garden. You can even design your natural pond with a deck. There you can relax listening to the sound of running water while watching the wildlife swim by.

Did you know that wild animals are less inclined to move away from their native homes if there is food and water nearby? This means that natural garden pools provide the perfect location for wildlife to live. These pools also provide people with opportunities to explore new parts of nature. Many even connect with their environment on a more personal level.

Why Natural Pool Restoration Is Important

A natural pool restoration is essential for returning aged pools & lakes to their former glory. Left to their own devices, natural pools can be overtaken by reeds and aquatic plants. This can leave what was once an award-winning natural pool as an unsightly, stagnant pool of water. No longer the attractive wildlife haven that it once was.

Natural pools & lakes can be a crucial component of your local environment. They have the ability to support diverse plant and animal populations of an ecosystem. This includes sustenance and habitats for animals, fish, plants, birds, mammals and insects. The restoration of large ponds & pools is important for the survival of this wildlife. If uncared for it can become a wasteland for animal life. This is important for animals who must migrate. It provides them with a place to rest, feed and breed.

There are a number of ways to perform pool restoration. Some methods involve creating a temporary pond where wildlife can find refuge. Other restoration activities include restoring wetlands. This helps filter pollutants from water and encourage native vegetation growth near bodies of water.

Some organisations might believe that pool & lake restoration isn’t necessary if the damage has already been done. This couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s our obligation to care for what has been damaged. This ensures that future generations of humans & wildlife will be able to benefit from natural landscape pools.

How Natural Pool Restoration Increases Biodiversity

When Landmarc undertakes a restoration project, we aim to turn time back. We want to restore historical species or habitats that have been lost. One of the ways that we do this, is by increasing biodiversity in these naturally constructed pools. This can be achieved in a variety of ways. In our experience, it is best achieved with a ground-up approach. We have found that there is little point in just solving the symptom of the issue. A complete ecosystem approach is the best way to deal with the cascade effect of issues that many lakes display.

Landmarc wants to design, construct, and restore your natural pool.

We start this process off by draining the pool of water. This will enable us to use excavators to desilt the pool. We also remove excessive sediment which will cause a shallow natural pool. Shallow pools are a leading cause of decreasing biodiversity. It makes the water an unsuitable home to many wildlife species. It can also lead to the infestation of invasive aquatic plants and animal species. This damages the lake’s overall health as an ecosystem. Excessive sediment levels can also cause high levels of nutrients in the water that harm fish and cause bad odours. In turn, these high nutrient levels and shallow warm water, trigger algae bloom. They range from unsightly to dangerous for both animals and humans.
