Westcountry Rivers Trust put out a tender for wetland creation at Shorts Down, near Tavistock on Dartmoor. After submitting our tender, we were notified that we were the successful contractor.
The specification was for a stream channel to be constructed to lead water that used to run down a footpath into a series of cascading scrapes down to the northern end of the field. There was to be a total of 5-8 scrapes with bunded edges to retain water within the scrapes and meandering stream channel.
There was also a large pond to be created, approx. 15m x 10m with a gradual decreasing depth for wildlife.
