Last year we were successful in our tender submission to Cornwall Wildlife Trust to revisit Breney Common and Redmoor Nature Reserves to help with habitat management.
The project began in December 2024 and has run until March 2025. The terrain is the tricky part of the job, with boggy ground hindering the machine access. There is also livestock grazing in the area, so measures have to be taken to ensure they are safe and away from the works.
We were tasked with removing various scrub from selected areas including gorse, willow and thorn. This is similar works we have previously done for Cornwall Wildlife Trust – click here to see the case study.
By removing the invasive gorse, we reduced wildfire risk and allowed native plant species to regenerate, supporting local wildlife. This work also improves soil health and enhances land management for conservation, helping to restore the area’s natural biodiversity and ensure its long-term ecological health.
