Landmarc Environmental Engineering, was tasked with a challenging steep gradient clearance project at Thruxton Racetrack – one of the UK’s premier motorsport venues. The racetrack, located in the scenic countryside of Hampshire, is known for its fast and demanding circuit. However, some of the steep embankments, or “bunds,” that surround parts of the track were overgrown and unsightly. Landmarc Environmental Engineering was chosen for the job to clear these steep bunds and improve both the safety and overall functionality of the site.
The Challenge
The steep bunds surrounding Thruxton Racetrack had become overgrown with vegetation, which posed a risk for erosion and presented a maintenance headache for the racetrack’s team. These embankments also obstructed views, creating an unsightly barrier in some areas.
The steepness of the bunds added complexity to the project. Accessing these areas for vegetation clearance and erosion control required specialised equipment and careful planning. Additionally, Thruxton Racetrack needed the bund clearance to be completed in a way that would not disrupt the race calendar, which meant tight deadlines and working within a narrow window of opportunity.
