Beesands is a small village located in the South Hams district of Devon, England. The village is located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The AONB is a protected area of countryside that is managed by the South Devon AONB Partnership. As you may have gathered from the title of this case study, Beesands is situated on the coast. It is subject to strong storm waves which cause land erosion.
Due to Landmarc’s unique coastal defence experience, we were commissioned by South Hams District Council. We were to undertake a large coastal defences project at the Beesands site. This would involve excavation works and the installation of over 100 meters of rock armour.
Landmarc owns a range of excavators which made quick work of the initial excavation works. By using a combination of our 14ton Volvo EC140 and our 22ton Liebherr R922 long reach, we were able to work efficiently. This helped to keep costs to a minimum.
