Embarking On An Exciting Project

When Landmarc was approached by a client to enhance the landscape of their charming property in Aveton Gifford, we were excited to take on the project. The client already had an existing pond, but it wasn’t up to their specifications. Our goal was to enhance the existing pond and make it more appealing, as well as create a terrace area that would be suitable for a wedding marquee.

To bring our vision to life, we worked with a local landscape architect to enhance the terrace area. We added a planting shelf to the pond and replaced the existing liner with a modern bentonite liner to prevent leakage. To keep the water looking clear and suitable for swimming, we added a gravel base and installed a pool pump with a UV filter to provide circulation and kill excess algae.

Hot Weather - A Blessing & A Curse

However, the project was not without its challenges. The weather was very hot during the installation of both wildflower turf and grass turf, which meant that we had to constantly water the area to keep it from dying. Additionally, the hot weather caused the algae to bloom in the pond, which made it difficult to keep the water clear.

To overcome these issues, we adapted our methods and worked closely with the landscape architect to ensure that everything was done correctly. We used a combination of shade and frequent watering to protect the turf, and we implemented a strict maintenance schedule to keep the pool water clear and healthy.

In the end, our hard work paid off, and the client now has a stunning waterscape that they can enjoy for years to come. The new pond is a beautiful addition to the landscape, and the terrace area is perfect for hosting special events. Our collaboration with the landscape architect ensured that every aspect of the project was carefully considered and executed to the highest standard.
